Legacy Publishing is Hiring a News Reporter Near Point, SD

Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and passionate News Reporter to join our team. As a News Reporter, you will play a crucial role in gathering and delivering accurate and timely news stories to our audience. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is dedicated to journalism and has a strong desire to inform and engage the public.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research to gather information for news stories
- Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles for print, online, or broadcast platforms
- Conduct interviews with sources to gather firsthand information
- Attend city, county ,school meetings and events, and other relevant activities to gather news
- Edit and proofread news articles for accuracy, grammar, and style
- Fact-check information
- write sports for local high schools
- Stay up-to-date with current events, industry trends, and emerging news topics

Skills:
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce well-crafted news articles
- Strong communication skills to effectively interview sources and present information
- Proficient in copy editing and proofreading to ensure accuracy and clarity
- Knowledge of journalistic ethics and standards
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work
- Proficiency in conducting research using various sources
- Familiarity with photography

- Adobe software
- Experience in copywriting or content creation is a plus

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience in journalism or reporting preferred but not required
- Strong passion for news reporting and storytelling

Note: This is a paid position. Internship positions must also be compensated.
