Salary:

Quantum LEEP Academy, a K-12 Independent School Program is now hiring a Reading/Literacy Intervention Specialist. QLA works in partnership with LEEP Forward, a multi-disciplinary therapeutic clinic. We are located in the Ravenswood Neighborhood. 

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide Individualized Reading Instruction: Develop and implement personalized reading intervention plans based on the specific needs and strengths of neurodiverse learners. Use a variety of evidence-based strategies, interventions, and resources to support reading growth.
  • Support implementation of the QLA Reading/Literacy curriculum
  • Assessments and Progress Monitoring: Conduct thorough assessments to identify students' reading levels, strengths, and challenges. Regularly monitor and track their progress, making data-driven decisions to adapt and refine interventions accordingly.
  • Develop resources on key literacy practices: Reading of diverse, engaging texts, extensive discussion, engagement in the writing process, rigorous and authentic learning experiences, and creating content in a digital environment
  • Assistive Technology Integration: Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and adaptive materials to enhance reading experiences for neurodiverse learners, accommodating their unique learning styles.
  • Caregiver Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress, sharing strategies for continued support at home, and promoting a strong home-school partnership.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research, trends, and best practices related to reading interventions and neurodiverse learners. Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance your expertise.
  • Collaboration with Education Team: Work collaboratively with teachers, special educators, psychologists, and other professionals to develop holistic strategies that integrate reading intervention with the overall educational plan for each student.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university required.
  • Valid teaching certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education with appropriate grade level and content level endorsement, required.
  • Master’s degree in English, Education, Reading, or related field preferred. LBSI, ESL, or Bilingual Endorsement a plus.
  • Experience working with learners, including evaluating the professional learning needs of teachers, and creating, organizing, and facilitating professional learning experiences to meet those needs. This experience is required in addition to the teaching experience outlined above.
  • Training in evidence-based reading intervention programs and methodologies (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Multi-sensory Structured Language Education) is highly desirable.
  • Additionally, experience/expertise in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:
    • Primary, intermediate and/or middle grades experience
    • Disciplinary literacy/reading and writing across the curriculum
    • Expertise in supporting the literacy learning of diverse learners and students experiencing difficulty with reading and writing
    • Expertise in literacy assessment, designing multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and identifying effective intervention programs
