Lee County Government is Hiring a Summer Camp Lead Counselor Near Camp, FL
This position is responsible for assisting the site director with planning and facilitating of a balanced summer recreation camp program.
- The primary function of this position is to support the Camp Counselors in their group activities with facilitating and leading small groups of children in various activities, entertainment and educational programs that include: sports, games, arts & crafts, swimming, canoeing, bicycling, archery, fishing, field trips, and special events.
- Assume some of the Site Director's responsibilities in their absence like parent/camper counseling, confirming field trip schedules, redirecting staff assignments and activities.
- Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and one year of experience working with large groups of youth, children of all ages preschool through teens.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
- First Aid and CPR training is required prior to Camp Programs starting.
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Screening (fingerprints) is required.
CAMP DATES: June 10 - August 2, 2024
- Must be able to perform extensive physical activity and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must also be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Camp staffing levels are subject to minimum enrollment and camper participation. In an instance where too few children enroll, staff may be subject to layoff or relocation.
- This position does not have benefits.
- Work days and hours for this position will vary.
- All camp staff is expected to commit to working the entire summer camp plus training week.
