Lee County Government is Hiring an Income Maintenance Caseworker II (Adult Medicaid) Near Sanford, NC

General Definition of Work: This position is one of nine caseworkers assigned to administer the eligibility determination process for Adult Medicaid and sub-programs. The primary purpose of the position is to correctly determine an applicant or recipient’s household meets federal requirements and are eligible to participate in the appropriate Adult Medicaid program and sub-programs. Included are MAA, MAB, MAD, MQB, SAA, and SAD. This caseworker must interview clients to obtain required information, verify the information obtained, and determine initial and ongoing eligibility for all assigned applications, reapplications, recertifications and changes in circumstance utilizing the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST) system. This caseworker will be on Adult Medicaid intake on a rotating basis and will process these applications. Applications received by methods other than in-person will be assigned on a rotating basis. Maintenance of the assigned private living caseload for this position consists of processing recertifications, quarterly reports, changes in circumstance, monitoring continual compliance with all program requirements, responding to requests for program information or other matters as they arise during the time the case is open, and closing the case when the household is no longer eligible. This position is also required to process SSI exparte reviews and provide case maintenance for SSI cases.

Participation in shelter management is required in the event of emergencies or disasters. This service, if required, will take precedence over duties described in this position vacancy announcement. This position is required to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and could be subject to overtime which is given in the form of compensatory time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower-level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

Education and Experience: One year experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker.
