Lee County Government is Hiring an Electrician Near Fort Myers, FL
Internally known as a Tradesworker Senior, the primary function of this position is to perform complex electrical installations and repairs from work orders received and completing them in a timely manner.
Procuring new or repaired parts from vendors as required.
Maintain and repair all electrical equipment in county-owned facilities.
Maintains truck inventory.
Replace and perform new system installations.
Prepares service estimates for customers.
Prepares and submits all corresponding paperwork daily.
Operates bucket truck.
Requires any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from High School or GED and two (2) years of electrical experience or closely related experience.
Possession of a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Learners Permit with airbrakes is required prior to receiving an offer of employment.
Must obtain a Florida Class "B" Commercial Drivers License with airbrakes within four (4) months of hire or employment will end.
This is a safety-sensitive position which is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49CFR-Parts 40 and/or 382.
Will be required to undergo a fingerprint-based NCIC background check and must be able to obtain a security clearance from the Lee County Sheriff's Office and will be required to undergo a "fingerprint-based" criminal background check and must be able to obtain security clearance from the State's Attorney Office in addition to the standard Consumer Report based background check that is required for all conditional offers of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four (4) years experience working in the electrical trade as a commercial or service electrician.
Florida Journeyperson License in Electrical.
Knowledge of electrical standards and methods and the ability to use standard electrical tools, adhere to all electrical codes, rules, regulations, and ability to read blueprints and sketches is preferred.
Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, dig and crawl in tight spaces, reach, and stoop, squat, and work outside during all seasons in extreme temperatures, and able to lift 60 pounds.
The workdays and hours for this position are Tuesday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Will be required to be on-call when scheduled, work overtime and work flexible hours and days as needed.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an Emergency as needed, unless excused by management. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
