Job Summary:
Ledcor Technical Services (LTS) as a division of Ledcor, designs, builds, maintains, and delivers communications networks and services across Canada and the USA with over 2,000 employees and select partners designing and building urban, rural, and long-haul networks as well as deploying and maintaining core and edge network technologies, outside plant infrastructure, and customer premises services.Essential Responsibilities:
Develops estimates by creating and verifying direct and indirect costs
Assigns and manages bid package responsibilities
Prepares work take-offs and estimates on utility projects including costs of materials, labour and equipment required for projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
Leads subcontractor and supplier solicitation
Reviews and analyzes quotes, providing data to support subcontractor selection for all bids, including large and complex bids
Integrates requirements from drawing specifications, terms, and conditions into bid
Conducts through reviews RFI's prior to submission
Creates and reviews indirect staffing models, project and execution schedules, and execution strategy, ensuring constructability and alignment with the estimate, in collaboration with operations input
Leads estimate reviews and facilitates the development of bid clarifications
Qualifications:
2 years construction estimating experience in Outside Plant Construction (OSP), gas, electric, water, or telecom, in a variety of complex multidiscipline projects
Experience estimating underground/overhead utilities an asset
Electrical trades background an asset
Strong computer background including experience with MS Office and related estimating software
Knowledge of BIM modeling as asset
Thorough knowledge and understanding of trade-related drawings and specifications, including understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess their level of completeness
Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop a project schedule
Experience with negotiating and resolving contractual risks, and recommending mitigation practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt message to audience; ability to coach and guide other team members
