LECOM Health is Hiring a Clinical Nurse Educator Near Erie, PA

Millcreek Community Hospital, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking a PART TIME Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Nursing Team.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse Educator will provide leadership and coordination of clinical education across the organization. The Clinical Nurse Educator will be responsible for the development and management of all professional development programs, clinical orientation, clinical competencies, and the adherence to clinical policies. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse Educator will be the clinical liaison with local schools of nursing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess all aspects of the educational process, including the assessment of team learning needs, development of curricula to meet these needs, implementation of educational programs/ offerings, and the outcomes of such programs/ offerings.
  • Plan and implement the orientation and continuing education programs for each level of nursing personnel that are consistent with the philosophy and objectives of nursing.
  • Create programs and implement practice standards that promote an environment within the organization that strives to protect the patient’s health, safety, and rights.
  • Develop, review, and revise nursing procedures, directly and on a consultative basis, using teaching records, performance checklists, and patient education materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate educational outcomes
  • Develop educational programs based on Performance Improvement data results and implement performance improvement activities related to the specific focus team structures developed within the department.
  • Assure all team members’ education is up-to-date and proper records are maintained.
  • Communicate progress and performance to the clinical Leadership team(s) as appropriate.
  • Provide direct oversight of Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Nurse Residents while in orientation status, including monitoring progress, scheduling, clinical skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Coordinate clinical rotations with educational institutes.
  • Assist Unit Leader(s), and Director of Nursing in planning and presenting continuing education programs/ courses.
  • Serve as the expert clinician and role model; identity, develop, and assist in implementing current practice and nursing care standards.
  • Assist in the annual review of mandatory education and core competencies based on the requirements.
  • Promote knowledge of and compliance with regulatory requirements related to patient safety.
  • Remediate team in identified areas of knowledge and skill deficit.
  • Execute other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior
