LearnWell is Hiring a Part-time Teacher Near Northbrook, IL

Here at LearnWell, we've dedicated ourselves to making a life-changing impact on the 10 million students currently in the U.S. who live with some type of behavioral health need (depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, eating disorder, substance use). For nearly 25 years, we have provided on-site instructional services within the hospital setting, helping students to continue their academic progress during treatment and successfully reenter the classroom. LearnWell has a network of 180 dedicated educators that commit themselves daily to embracing our mission and positively impacting generations to come.

LearnWell is currently looking for our next creative and passionate certified teacher to fill a permanent part-time start this current school year position in Northbrook, IL. The certified teacher will work in a unique fast-paced behavioral health facility center; which involves working with adolescent students in a small classroom setting and supporting them academically with common core subjects while they are receiving treatment for an eating disorder diagnosis.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver daily lesson plans and instructional material for an average of 8-10 students, with a maximum amount of 12; in a small group setting
  • Help students one-on-one if extra assistance is needed on their individual school curriculum.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, hospital and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Updating daily attendance and creating daily session reports for each student

Position entails a 20-hour a week commitment potential to increase hours if desired, Monday-Friday, 10:30am - 2:30pm or 11:00am - 3:00pm. The four-hour day consists of two hours of class time, and two hours of administrative time. Qualifications:

  • B.A/B.S degree from an accredited institution
  • State Teaching Certification
  • Comfortable working with adolescents and accompanying academic levels
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Understanding of subject matter relevant to students need
  • Ability to commute to the location
