LEARN, a Regional Educational Service Center located in Southeastern Connecticut, is seeking an innovative and dynamic Early Childhood Special Education Supervisor

General Scope of Responsibility
The Special Education Supervisor will ensure student achievement with high quality instruction and services by providing resources, coaching, technical support, and evaluation of SSS personnel and programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of special educators and related services staff through various processes including (but not limited to) B-3 Transitions, MTSS, Child Find, eligibility determinations, and 504
• Support the development and implementation of specially designed instruction and services
• Partner with district special education liaisons to ensure provision of services for students on IEPs
• Supervise and evaluate certified and non-certified staff
• Assist in planning and implementation of staff development, program development and innovation of special methods and strategies for improving achievement
• Implement and manage programs, curricular resources and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of early childhood programs for students with special needs
• Support designated collaborative projects with the State Department of Education and RESC Alliance
• Collaborate with district partners to develop and deliver exemplary contractual services to districts to support early childhood programs

Experience and Training

• 5 years of experience as a direct special educator or related services provider in public schools
• 3 years of experience in early childhood/ preschool or B-3 settings
• Deep knowledge the CT ELDS
• Familiarity with CT DOTS
• Experience with SOR and play-based instructional practices
• Leadership experience preferred

Education and/or Certification Required

• Valid Special Education Teacher, School Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist, or other Related Services certification
• Valid Connecticut Administrator certification
