PRODUCT ENGINEER I

SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN - WORLD HEADQUARTERS

As a member of the Luxury Comfort team, the Product Engineer will be responsible forthe design & development of a seating component or assembly design from concept ideation to physical proof of the concept, followed by the support of the "productionization" of the final product.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Develop concept designs to match customer requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams on ideation, problem solving and specification development
  • Conduct or direct experiments to gain fundamental knowledge and address technical challenges for innovative seating systems.
  • Work with CAE team to model material for virtual testing purposes
  • Work with internal and external teams to produce physical samples of the component or system
  • Create documentation and presentations to communicate to all levels of the organization

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equal experience in mechanical engineering.
  • High proficiency in troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Innovative, outside the box thinking
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Self-sufficient and able to work independently (without direction) towards final goal
  • A history of new approaches/solutions to problems
  • Interior or seating experience
  • Ability to communicate with management, engineers, sales and suppliers effectively

Bonus If You Have:

  • Experience with materials science, plastics, extruded parts, extrusion manufacturing
  • Experience with sustainable design, materials, and manufacturing
