Community Organizer Job Summary

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The League of Women Voters Worcester Area is seeking a Community Organizer to coordinate and facilitate community participation in a community survey and listening sessions to determine barriers to voting in local elections. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the community and drive meaningful change.

Under the supervision and with the support of the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will coordinate the distribution of a survey with community partners, as well as schedule and facilitate group listening sessions. Additional outreach through social media, email, and direct contact may be required. The successful candidate will have ties to the Worcester community, excellent people skills, be organized, and have a flexible schedule to meet in person and online as a representative of the League of Women Voters of the Worcester Area.

This position is for 10 hours per week at $20/hour. Start date begins in June of 2024 through mid-August 2024, with a possibility for renewal. Work will be completed independently and is hybrid, requiring in-person presence for community events and meetings necessary to complete the overarching project goal.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Worcester organizations via email, phone, social media, and online- or in person meetings
  • Administer surveys to diverse local organizations
  • Schedule and facilitate Listening and Learning Sessions with local organizations
  • Communicate with the LWVWA BOD
  • Maintain partner data, organized session feedback, survey results, and notes
  • Work with LWVWA Communications Intern to develop social media outreach
  • Provide twice monthly check ins with the BOD

Required Qualifications

  • Strong sense of civic duty and dedication to voting
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in work delegation and coordination
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities
  • Access to reliable transportation around Worcester

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-lingual
  • High energy, people person
  • Experience working with Worcester communities
