League of Minnesota Cities (LMNC) is Hiring a Learning Designer Near Saint Paul, MN

JOB
The Learning Designer works as part of the Learning Team to design inclusive, accessible, effective learning experiences that align with organizational goals. The Learning Designer is responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts in order to produce formal learning solutions and materials including writing and designing asynchronous online learning. The Learning Designer will leverage their understanding of adult learning methodology and cognitive science in order to create engaging, real-world, high-quality learning experiences for our learners. This position will also supervise the Learning Media Designer position and direct the creation of media content for online learning. About our learners: The League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) is a public sector association that provides services to 837 member cities across the State of Minnesota. Our diverse learners include elected officials and top appointed staff as well as city staff in specialist roles from cities of all sizes and geographic regions of the state.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
SupervisoryLeads, supervises, and develops staff in a manner that inspires professionalism, strong inter- and intradepartmental communication, team building and alignment with League values. Motivates, develops, and encourages staff in a collaborative and compelling manner to support the League and its objectives; demonstrates inspirational leadership, promotes collaboration at all levels and empowers staff to be innovative decision-makers.Fosters an environment of continuous learning and improvement.Provides effective management by appropriate supervision, delegation, coaching, and training.Participates in professional organizations and implements best practices where appropriate.Plans and executes day-to-day objectives establishing priorities in work assignments while balancing workload distribution and internal and external customer service needs.Monitors performance and provides feedback through formal and informal performance management in a timely fashion. Creating learning content: Use instructional design expertise to develop effective, engaging, innovative and creative instructional materials that meet audience needs.Oversees and directs production of learning objectives in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, and video to support learning programs.Perform needs assessment and audience analysis to determine performance gaps and identify opportunities, priorities, and appropriate learning interventions.Conducts necessary research to develop and deliver learning content.Create and test learning content, including visual aids, videos, and highly interactive learning modules, games and other learning tools.Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and team members to create formal and informal learning, storyboards, and recommend learning solutions.Maintain project documentation and course folders.Contribute to team planning to reimagine existing face-to-face training for online and blended delivery.Apply project management, communication, and problem-solving skills in the design of all training projects to meet aggressive deadlines.Platform AdministrationManage authoring software and LMS. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth member experience and access to LMS, as well as ensure integration between LMS and AMS is meeting member needs.

Experience with the successive approximation model preferred.Media savvy – able to work on production of video, podcast, and graphic design.Ability to use course development/learning software design tools and learning management systems. Experience with Rise 360 preferred.Experience in design, layout and presentation techniques.Knowledge of learning styles and modules.Demonstrated cultural competence in learning projects.Experience with ADA, 508 compliance and WCAG.Eye for good UX/UI.Ability to demonstrate effective active listening, organizational, planning, critical thinking, and group facilitation skills.Ability to work effectively at multiple levels of the organization and with multiple project teams as well as external stakeholders to design course content and curriculum.Experience mentoring, coaching, and instructing adult learners.
