Leading Educators (LE) is a national nonprofit committed to ensuring that all students – no matter their background – have access to high-quality teachers and schools. We partner with districts and charter management organizations to help highly effective teachers develop the content, pedagogical, and leadership skills needed to successfully design and deliver rigorous content in their classrooms and throughout their school. We work to strengthen the instructional skills of teacher leaders who, in turn, lead their peers in similar efforts through intensive job-embedded coaching, professional development, and powerful cohort-based learning experiences. POSITION

The Instructional Leadership Coach (ILC) ensures that our programming makes a measurable impact on teacher practice and student achievement. The ILC serves as the main point of contact to school based leaders, who are responsible for leading curriculum-focused, job-embedded professional learning for K-8 teachers. The ILC is our project’s expert in instructional coaching, leading learning for adults, and observing classrooms to assess standards-alignment and impact on students.

Learning will be anchored in the standards, district curriculums (Wit and Wisdom, MyPerspectives, and Envisions), and Science of Reading best practices. The Instructional Leadership Coach role is grounded in a deep commitment to achieving exceptional growth for all students. It requires the demonstration of strategic and intentional coaching of teachers and school leaders to plan and deliver lessons improving student performance and experiences.

Instructional Leadership Coaches will also contribute to national and cross-functional projects enabling him/her/they to contribute to Leading Educators’ national work while learning valuable lessons and best practices from other school systems that will benefit Cincinnati programming.

Instructional Coaching

  • Additional support for teachers can include modeling instruction, co-planning, data/artifact analysis.

  • Participate in school and classroom observations and collect data and notes to help guide instruction and programming.

  • Develop school leaders and teacher leaders in:

    • Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Content Knowledge, including a deep understanding of Science of Reading

    • Leadership and management skills needed to navigate various conditions of readiness and ambiguity.

    • Support the development of the school conditions necessary for strong teacher development.

  • Facilitate semi-annual data reviews with school teams to support collaboration and progress toward shared goals.

  • Build relationships with school leaders to leverage, influence, and support participants to be effective in their schools.

  • Support the development of and maintain systems for effectively tracking and monitoring multiple sources of information from a variety of stakeholders to ensure they receive exemplary support.

  • Support the customization of tools and learning experiences from LE and Cincinnati Public Schools to meet the needs of project goals.

School Leader Partnerships

  • Serve as a liaison between Leading Educators and partner school systems regarding teacher leader development

  • Lead the strategic planning for implementation of the enabling conditions that support teacher leadership with school partners

  • Support the Director of Content and Coaching in planning and facilitating professional development.

  • Analyze school and district-level data to support goal setting, coaching practices and quarterly evaluations

Session Facilitation

  • Collaboratively design and facilitate high quality professional learning experiences for district leaders, school leaders, and teacher leaders

  • Contribute to the design of Leading Educators programming sessions

  • Facilitate sessions at various local programming events and national Leading Educators programming events.

Leading Educators Leader

  • Act as an ambassador for Leading Educators nationally and in the Cincinnati region.

  • Model and foster the Leading Educators values of Equity, Service, Community, Growth, and Results and enhance overall organizational effectiveness.

  • Commit to deepening one’s own knowledge and skills by regularly seeking and applying feedback as well as providing effective feedback to others.

  • Model all Leading Educators team expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Equity is at your core. You bring a deep commitment to directly challenging historical inequity and to dismantling systemic racism. You have demonstrated a commitment to traditionally underserved schools and communities.

  • You love content. You have demonstrated deep mastery of Common Core State Standards and standards-based instructional planning and delivery, that has led to student mastery of rigorous content. Additionally, you have experience with current and effective innovations in education.

  • You can walk the walk. You’ve led significant and measurable student academic achievement results in high-needs schools as a teacher and a coach across multiple schools.

  • You lead adult learning. You have experience facilitating learning for teachers and instructional leaders and you can see the through-line of development needs for leaders at the district and school level, and how their development will impact teachers and students.

  • You’re an influencer. You hold extremely high expectations of yourself, your colleagues, and your partners. You communicate those expectations in a direct, caring, and motivating way. You are able to motivate others to achieve ambitious results.

  • You’re an innovator. You’ve brought innovative resolution to ambiguous and/or challenging situations.

  • You’re a learner. You have a deep hunger for professional growth and continuous feedback.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or beyond is preferred

LOCATION

Must live within 90 minutes of Philadelphia. This person will travel to schools in Philadelphia 3-4 days a week. When not traveling to school and 20% national travel for org retreats, programming or professional development required), the ILC will work from a home office that can be located within 90 minutes of Philadelphia.

COMPENSATION

If hired for this position, the compensation range for this position is between $77,942 and $116,914 ( with the midpoint at $97,428) annually. Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience, and in alignment with internal equity. Candidates, either newly hired or new to the role, can typically expect a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. In addition, Leading Educators offers a very generous benefits package, including 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. We also offer a 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare, and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.

Additionally, Leading Educators offers generous time off with pay in order to support a sustainable high-performance work culture. During the first three years of employment, full-time staff accrue 22 days a year. Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth years of employment. Leading Educators also offers 16 additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
