Job Title/Position: Instructional CoachWage/Hour Status: Exempt/At willEvaluator: Site DirectorSite: As assigned Position Summary:The school-based Instructional Coach Teacher is an instructional leader who fosters personal and staff’s development, growth of professional learning communities and facilitates job-embedded staff development. In collaboration with the director, school leadership and other stakeholders, the instructional coach supports the goal of building staff capacity to meet system-wide and local school initiatives to increase student learning. Qualifications:Education: Hold a Master degree in education, training, subject field, curriculum or related field from an accredited College/University Certification: Texas teaching certification Experience:Experience in modeling teaching behavior to adult learners in a variety of settings (e.g. workshops, seminars, courses, etc.)Minimum five years successful teaching experience Special Knowledge and Skills:Evidence of instructional leadership (e.g. team leader, resource teacher, interdisciplinary resource teacher, department chair, system-wide committees, etc.) Physical abilitiesAbility to stand for at least thirty minutesAbility to type, read, and sit for an extended timeAbility to drive a vehicle to offsite meetings Customer Contacts:Internal: Director, teachers, Arrow administrators Duties and Responsibilities:Engaging teachers to develop a culture that:Fosters professional learning communitiesPromotes all staff as learners acquiring and building a repertoire of skills to meet the needs of every studentCreating professional development opportunities, related to:Evidence of student learningData analysisInstructional best practicesPeer visits with reflectionModeling instruction for staffLocal school walkthroughCollaborative team planningIndividual professional growthReflective practicesProfessional portfolioIndividual Professional Development Plan (PDP)Demonstrating high expectations and modeling effective strategies for continuous school improvementCommunicating and supporting implementation of system-wide initiativesSupporting the development, implementation and monitoring of the school plan based on:The school’s vision and missionMeet the goals of the schoolInstructional best practicesClassroom management systemIndividual professional growthSupporting job embedded staff development by:Allocating timePlanning for the effective use of timeOrganizing, coordinating and documenting the utilization of allocated substitute timeAssisting individual teachers to self-monitor their professional growth needs Working environmentMaintain emotional control under the stress of operations Travel as needed to training or secure supplies and materials Be flexible in assisting othersParticipate in overnight training, field trips with students, and professional conferences This is professional position that uses professional judgment and may serve more than forty hours per week. Retirement is through the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas and not Social Security. TRS requires five years of participation before any retirement funds are vested. The Texas Workers Compensation program covers this position. Federal employees shall not engage in text messaging (a) when driving GOV, or when driving POV while on official Government business, or (b) when using electronic equipment supplied by the Government while driving.
