Lea County is Hiring an IT Technician - IT Near Lovington, NM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Under the direction of the Information Technology Administrator, executes daily computer activity to include: bringing system up, printing reports, deliver?ing reports, trouble-shooting, taking systems down, and locating and overcoming error conditions. Internal customer service and user-friendly communication skills are a priority.
  • Performs daily operation of mini-computer, person?al computers, and peripheral equipment.
  • Assists with printing of periodic and annual data and all other related tasks with the appro?priate departments heads and those elected officials relying on the computer for generation of work product.
Assists with maintenance of all County personal computer networks and interactive voice response systems.
Creates and maintains a log for all personal computers that will show specifications for the personal computer and operating system and application programs it contains.
Installs approved boards and software in County personal computers. Ensures that all additional hardware and software are operating correctly.
  • Trouble shoots County computer equipment and makes recommendations for repair or replacement of defective equipment.
Assists in maintaining Lea County's web site.
  • Orders supplies relating to data processing equipment.
  • Assists in scheduling maintenance for computer equipment.
  • Maintains the operations manual; monitors and controls the County's mini-computer, personal computers and peripheral equipment to process data and perform other functions according to operating instructions. This includes running back-up tapes on mini-computer and maintaining peripheral equipment such as Modems, monitors and printers for mini-computer. Assists with personal computer operations as required by IT Administrator.
  • Provides information and training to County employ?ees on operations of computer equipment as is feasible. Will attend schools and conferences, as approved, to update information and skills.
  • Runs accounts payable warrants and payroll warrants and reports as required.
  • Will be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings, and perform all duties with minimal supervision.
  • The duties of the Information Technology Technician are not limited to those set forth above. The employee will perform such functions, duties or assignments as given by a supervisor consistent with ability, background and expertise.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree from accredited college preferred.
  • Training in personal computer repair of at least two semesters of college-level course work required.
  • Training in computer technology, programming, and related fields required.


Experience:

  • One year data processing experience preferred.
  • One year of personal computer repair preferred.


Certification, Skills and Licenses:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license.
  • Certificate or diploma in computer sciences preferred.
