The Lead Dietary Cook is responsible for ensuring the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes and special diet orders.

Assists the Health Center Dietitian with the Health Center food service program and ensures high quality and nutritious foods are delivered.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES :

Assists in developing all menus and standardized recipes for Health Center residents assessing preferences and

nutritional needs.

• Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times.
• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency
• Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production.
• Responsible for completion of hall trays and accuracy.
• Contacts the dietitian if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered. 7. Assures that meal tallies are accurate on

a daily basis.

Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service such as quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance; and conduct

evaluations to make revisions in operations / procedures to promote improved food service.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• High School diploma / GED required.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in food service operations of a health care setting.
• Certified in safety and sanitation regarding food service.
• Experience in a long-term health care environment.
• Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors,

peers, supervisors, and subordinates.

Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand

requests.
