ABOUT LAWS

Founded in 1984 as Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice, Inc., LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services (LAWS) is Loudoun County's designated nonprofit to provide domestic violence and sexual assault survivors with services and supports. In addition to operating an emergency domestic violence shelter and a 24/7 survivor hotline, LAWS provides therapy, advocacy, and legal services to adult, youth, and child victims of domestic and sexual violence. LAWS also operates the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center for child abuse victims, and it works to stop violence before it starts with prevention and outreach programming. LAWS also runs The Resourceful Woman in downtown Leesburg - a thrift store that benefits LAWS services and provides survivors with clothing and household items.

Our mission is to provide victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse with safety, hope, and empowerment services to live as survivors free from the effects of violence. All services are confidential and free of charge.

Chief Program Officer

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Program Officer (CPO) for LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services (LAWS) oversees LAWS' day-to-day programs and operations, carrying out the organization's mission.

This position combines subject matter expertise in domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse prevention and intervention with leadership, strategic planning, quality assurance, fiscal stewardship, and organizational capacity-building. The CPO leads the organization in embracing diverse, equitable, inclusive, and just (DEIJ) policies and practices, from its workplace culture to direct services provision. The CPO brings a combination of curiosity and openness grounded in trauma-informed principles.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• EDUCATION
  • Degree disciplines: Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration or similar degrees.
• EXPERIENCE
  • 8 years field experience, with 5 years in supervisor role

PREFERRED

• Master's degree in one of the above disciplines.
• LCSW or similar clinical licensure.
• 10 years' experience working in a human services agency that provides direct services.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse intervention and prevention.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and justice.
• Knowledge of organizational management and trauma-informed best practices.
