The Title 1 Mathematics Teacher will be responsible for improving the Mathematics skills of underperforming students in grades 3-4 at the Lower School and supporting the goal of high Mathematics achievement for all Lower School students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze standardized test data to identify student needs in Mathematics.
• Based on identified needs, plan Mathematics lessons that address identified student needs and support classroom instruction.
• Provide small-group instruction using lessons that address identified student needs and support classroom instruction.
• May be asked to assist /co-teach Mathematics with classroom and/or Mathematics teachers.
• Assist Head of Lower School, Principal, and Administrative Assistant with inventory, scheduling, and distribution of Mathematics testing.
• Meet with classroom and/or Mathematics teachers to plan for and discuss students.
• Attend Response to Intervention meetings for relevant grade levels.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's Degree preferred
• Mathematics certification required SEI endorsed or become SEI endorsed by the end of the first year
• 3 years' experience preferred
• Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students
• Proven ability to communicate well with adults and children
• Demonstrated ability to work as a positive team member
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
• Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS
• Experience developing programs to serve the needs of students with underperforming Mathematics skills
• Experience developing programs for urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred
