Lawrence Family Development Charter School is Hiring a 2024-2025 Secondary School Coordinator Near Lawrence, MA

The Secondary School Coordinator is responsible for supporting the admissions’ process and transition to high school for all LFDCS graduates. The Secondary School Coordinator will work with all Upper School students (gr. 5-8, 320 students) to introduce them and their families to the possibilities of private secondary school education and to learn about all high school options in the Greater Lawrence area and throughout New England including: private independent schools, private religious-operated schools, public vocational schools and the district high school. The Secondary School Coordinator will support each student throughout grade 8 through workshops, counseling and coordinating visits and interviews with secondary schools’ admissions offices.Responsibilities:-Oversee all aspects of high school application, information and admissions procedures and support of “Opening Doors” for seventh and eighth grade students to understand the importance and relevance of quality secondary school education as an essential path to college, providing guidance and support throughout the process.-Coordinate outreach and communication with admissions directors at area secondary schools and continuously broaden the scope of schools interested in recruiting LFDCS graduates to provide balance and options for our students.-Plan and oversee annual Secondary School Fair (October) inviting admissions directors from at least twenty area schools and New England private independent, parochial and public high schools to meet with 7th and 8th grade students and their parents.-Create and provide workshops as part of the academic day, after school and summer as necessary, in support of the goals of “Opening Doors” including an understanding of diverse secondary school options, preparation of admissions’ exams, test-taking skills, interview skills, planning a path for the future, essay writing, meeting timelines and deadlines, confidence in self, financial aid and scholarships.-Provide group workshops and individual meetings with parents to explain the high school transition, application process and timelines, financial aid applications and expectations of parent involvement in the transition process.-Assist in the identification process of 7th grade students to attend LFDCS Summer Academy “Opening Doors” Prep@Pingree, Governor’s Summer Academy, Phillips Academy, Andover MS2 and other high school readiness programs.-Assist in identifying financial need gaps for 8th grade students and make recommendations for LFDCS scholarships.School-year position Salary Range: Based on Education and Relevant Experience
