Staking Technician

LEC is seeking a Staking Technician to join our Engineering team. As a Staking Technician at our electric cooperative, you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to provide reliable and efficient electric services to our community. This position involves both office-based work and outdoor fieldwork in various weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop detailed staking plans, drawings, and documentation to guide construction crews in the installation and maintenance of distribution lines.

· Conduct field surveys to assess site conditions, identify potential obstacles or hazards, and gather necessary information for accurate line design and staking.

· Perform technical analysis to determine optimal routes, pole placements, conductor sizes, and other specifications based on load requirements, voltage regulations, and environmental factors.

· Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, construction crews, and operations staff, to ensure project execution and timely completion of work orders.

· Communicate with cooperative members, landowners, and others to address concerns, obtain permissions for access, and provide information about project timelines and impacts.

· Utilize GIS software and other relevant technologies to assist in the design, mapping, and documentation of distribution line projects.

· Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to promote a culture of safety in all aspects of work, including field operations and office tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in CAD software and GIS tools.
  • Experience in distribution line design, staking, or related fields within the electric utility industry is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various work sites within the cooperative's service territory.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
