Location: Fairfield, OH

Position Type: Intern

Schedule: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (OT and weekends, as required) *May vary, depending on business needs

Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

We are currently looking for an energetic intern to join our Production team. The intern program will run from June to August 2024. This is a full-time paid opportunity involving 40 hours per week. As an intern on the Production team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager and Manufacturing Manager to identify areas of improvement and improvement and showcase your analytical skills when providing process-improvement recommendations. 
Projects for the 2024 Internship

  • Collaborate with Operations, FSQA and PD team on setting up a MAV limits on the vertical production centers. Analyze weekly data from every production center and record overages. Goals of this project is to improve the weight loss by 3-5% per line.Timeline of this project is for 4 weeks. 
  • Develop thorough understanding of sanitation on the dry vertical production lines. Goal of this project is to develop base line for the sanitation in the current state and enhance measures to improve overall indicator micro-organism.Timeline of this project is for 4 weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Must be a rising junior or senior before the internship begins.
  • Preferred fields of study include Food Science, Business Administration with focus on Operations Management, Supply Chain Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments (i.e. work experience, clubs, volunteer activities, teams, etc.). 
  • Prepare and assist in project documentation, including identifying project scope, risks, constraints, dependencies, assumptions, and deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Must be proficient and have practical knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work well within a team. 
  • Must be able to work hands on and follow the QA and Production schedule. 
  • Must be able to interpret and apply new information.
  • Must possess strong, professional communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize/execute multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Must possess skills in presentation development.
  • General curiosity and a desire to learn new material.
  • Schedule flexibility; there may be times where weekend attendance may be required.
  • Must have high aptitude, ability to learn ERP systems and product applications quickly. 
  • Bilingual, a plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Assists with performing variety of continuous improvement related tasks in the following areas: process improvement, quality control, research and development, maintenance, general engineering, and related areas. 
  • Investigate, experiment, and implement process improvements to maximize productivity. 
  • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of processes across production.
  • Conducts time studies in production processes for data collection. 
  • Create monitoring tools and processes to measure and document KPI performance, efficiency gains and cost/time savings of process improvement recommendations. 
  • Prepares a continuation plan for departments to maintain process improvement measures. 
  • Assist with projects in all aspects of data collection, data entry, and data analysis.
  • Work independently in both production and office environments. 
  • Participates in daily Production/Operations Teams meeting to understand daily plant environment. 
  • Prepare Power Point presentation to present findings and recommendations at the end of summer to Leadership Team. 
  • May perform a variety of supportive maintenance, operation, and production tasks, and other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environment

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. 
  • The team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
