DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Perform preliminary patient screenings, including taking medical histories and measuring visual acuity
- Assist ophthalmologist or optometrist with diagnostic tests and procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens use
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the healthcare provider
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of medical billing, coding, and terminology
- Familiarity with physiology and anatomy of the eye
- Strong patient care skills, including the ability to provide compassionate and attentive care
- Proficiency in using medical office software and electronic health records systems
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment
