WHO YOU CAN BECOME: The Unaccompanied Children (UC) clinician is a full-time, 40 hour a week, exempt, and salary position who conducts mental health assessments, provides ongoing individual and group counseling services, screens for human trafficking concerns, and provides crisis intervention services.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop treatment plans, complete UC portal documentation, maintain UC paper and electronic records, and respond to data requests.
  • Responsible for ensuring that case files are organized and stored in accordance with CSS and the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) guidelines.
  • Deliver individual, family, and group psychotherapy services.
  • Provide Individualized Educational Plan-related social and emotional services for UCs.
  • Seek out and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all relevant agency and regulatory expectations. Complete all required case-related documentation. Facilitate inter-departmental and inter-agency collaboration and communication.
  • Assists in the development and review of Safety Plans and release recommendations.
  • Consults with the clinical team and serves as a liaison, psychologist, and psychiatrist as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact, in conjunction with the Compliance Officer, regarding investigations of allegations of abuse and neglect that may occur in care.
  • Perform weekly audits on the program’s active case files (physical and on a web-based system) to ensure compliance with CHPs, State and Federal guidelines.
  • Responsible for working with UC in care and the UC’s family/sponsor. This includes locating family members and assessing potential sponsors to unify the child with their families/sponsors.
  • Plans with the Lead Clinician for conferences, phone calls, and family visits will be coordinated with childcare according to team plans.
  • Assess the needs of each UC in care while developing an Individual Service Plan, and facilitate a safe, timely release/discharge in collaboration with the case manager.
  • Responsible for maintaining case files on his/her caseload and documenting the provision of services in each UC’s case file while maintaining ORR/UC database compliance.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and meetings.
  • Report and discuss cases with third-party reviewers, clinical staff, and Federal Field Specialists.
  • Responsible for continued professional development through attendance at in‑service seminars, participation in conferences and workshops, and/or continued study at higher education institutions.
  • Is sensitive to and supportive of the children’s cultural and ethnic heritage and values.
  • Fulfills Mandated Reporter responsibilities according to NYS Justice Center’s and Office of Children and Family Services’ (OCFS) regulations.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Master’s in social work or other related behavioral science.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure.
  • Bilingual (additional $4,000 annual stipend).
  • New York State Driver’s License in good standing as determined by the Agency.
  • Must be 21 or older, and vaccinated against Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDaP).

WHO ARE YOU:

  • Able to exhibit highly developed clinical and administrative supervision skills.
  • Possess knowledge of and experience with trauma informed treatment, evidence-based practices and specialized risk assessment for youth with mental health, sexual abuse, and other complex behavioral health needs.
  • Possess strong computer, management, leadership, organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, as well as efficient documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively within a highly diverse multidisciplinary team of service providers and referral agencies.
  • Possess knowledge of all relevant current, and emerging, regulatory requirements (e.g., ORR, etc.)
  • Can works closely with Case Managers, Assistant Program Director, Lead Clinician, Compliance Officer, and Youth Development Staff.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations pertaining to the operation of programs offered including but not limited to OCFS, ORR, UC, and the Council on Accreditation standards.
  • Can keep current and up to date on required paperwork and documentation.
  • Will maintain First Aid/CPR and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certifications.
  • Able to work with economically and culturally diverse populations.
  • Able to work as a collaborative member of the UC team.

Pay: $46,575.00 - $56,925.00 per year
