Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

• • Equipment Tech must demonstrate the ability, skills, and knowledge to perform the necessary requirements to disassemble, sterilize (disinfect), reassemble, and test all respiratory equipment between patient use.
  • Equipment Tech must demonstrate the ability to identify various equipment and disposable components of the respiratory supply areas.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to adhere facility infection control standards and identify and report potential or violations of the documented standards.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to professionally and effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge, skills and ability to recognize and report any safety issues observed in the patient and non-patient areas of the facility.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to adhere to facility Patient rights (including privacy) standards and identify and report and potential or violations of the documented standards, state, or federal laws.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to adhere to the professional code of ethics as established by the AARC

  POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Pulmonary conditions including but not limited to: COPD, CHF, PE, asthma, and all other constrictive and restrictive pulmonary disorders.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Clean and correctly assemble respiratory equipment while maintain strict infection control guidelines.
• Keep equipment room and department neat and clean.
• Stock floor carts, floor stations and c-lockers.
• Test and change sterilization chemicals as necessary.
• Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
• Answers phones and responds to questions. Records information and/or relays information to appropriate persons.
• Assist RCP if assistance needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION

• BCLS provider

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language proficiently

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Department will provide training if necessary

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• 1-year related experience and/or training preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare (respiratory) equipment.
