Job Title: Full-time Education Specialist
Location: Larkspur-Corte Madera School District, Larkspur, CA
Position Overview:
Larkspur-Corte Madera School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-time Education Specialist to join our team. The Education Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and developmental needs of students with diverse learning abilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and contribute to their educational success.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with their specific needs and learning goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other school staff to develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities in the general education classroom.
  • Adapt and differentiate instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students with special needs.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to support their academic growth and development.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction in academic subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, and other core curriculum areas.
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social-emotional development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students' progress, goals, and areas for improvement, and collaborate with them to support student success.
  • Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, Student Study Team (SST) meetings, and other relevant meetings to develop and review students' educational plans.
  • Stay current with best practices, research, and trends in special education through professional development activities and participation in professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration to support the overall educational program and mission of the school district.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid California Education Specialist Teaching Credential or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or special needs.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed academically and socially.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
