One Agency, One Mission: Public SafetyThe Larimer County Sheriff's Office is seeks a detail-oriented individual with excellent customer service and trustworthy confidentiality to serve as a Sheriff Records Public Release Specialist.This person performs a variety of technical clerical duties including the release of physical and digital records to the public and outside agencies, sealing of records as directed by the courts, and maintenance of records and files. They serve as a subject matter expert to others for inquiries related to the release of records from the agency. They also maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and security of all records and work area.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Specifically, this position: Assists department personnel and the public by performing record checks, releasing police reports, and mailing out requested reports to outside agencies and insurance companies in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA)/Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA) and provides general information regarding department policies, procedures, and regulations.Reviews and processes requests for Body Worn Camera and other audio/video digital files with local, state, and federal laws.Purges criminal justice records in accordance with approved Retention Schedule.Acts as a resource or expert in a specific program area, providing technical guidance to less experienced staff.Performs special studies and projects as assigned and required.Processes court documents related to the sealing or expungement of adult and juvenile records.Redacts information from records in compliance with CORA, CCJRA, and other Federal, state, and local laws. Maintains accuracy, confidentiality, and security of all records and work area.Attends training as necessary to maintain department standards for records release.Performs duties of a Sheriff’s Records Technician as necessary.Nonessential FunctionsWhen a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.Research indicates that individuals from diverse backgrounds, including women and people of color, may sometimes feel hesitant to apply for a position unless they have experience performing every task outlined in the job description.
