SUMMARY:Under the direction of a certified teacher, provides support to the operation of and instructional programs within the assigned computer lab. Duties include maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripherals and supporting/complementing curriculum by instructing students and teachers on the use and application of computer technology. Supports teachers and students within the assigned computer lab/classroom.

1. Maintains the computer lab at assigned site, including maintaining, installing, assessing malfunctions, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripherals. Contacts district technology team and/or vendor for assistance as needed. Researches hardware and software applications and makes recommendations regarding acquisitions appropriate for student level.

2. Supports/complements curriculum by instructing students and teachers on the use and application of a variety of hardware, software, and peripherals in order to maximize student learning and to reach academic goals and grade level standards. Adapts and administers activities, assignments, and assessments. Models conversations, manners, active listening, organizational skills, problem solving strategies, and everyday interaction to demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner. Coordinates and oversees students, teachers, assistants, volunteers, equipment, and technical support personnel in the computer lab for the purpose of maintaining computer lab operations, safety, and schedules.

Monitors and supervises students in a variety of settings, including classroom/lab, playground, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, hallways, etc. Implements various levels of discipline in accordance with school district and building policies for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

4. Confers with certified teacher to provide feedback on student performance to assess the effectiveness of instruction, maximize student learning, and reach academic goals and grade level standards. Provides verbal feedback and/or written documentation and reports observations and incidents related to specific students. Maintains manual and electronic files and records as required.

5. Prepares documentation and written information regarding computer lab equipment, materials, usage, and processes, such as daily usage, progress reports, requisitions, instructions, memos, inventory, etc.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the use of various hardware, software, and peripherals
Experience working with school age children preferred
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required for hire
First Aid certification preferred
