• Kitchen Assistant Duties

· Adhere to proper kitchen procedures in order to maintain a safe and clean cooking environment.

· Supports, promotes, and adheres to vision and mission of Lantern Light

· Work with Kitchen Manager, Executive Director, and Volunteer Pantry Coordinator to receive and properly store food donations.

· Assist operations staff with ensuring Meeting room is maintained including sweeping and mopping on a weekly basis.

· Assist operations staff with ensuring the deck and court yard area is free from debris and garbage before Center opens

· Provides support to the operations staff as directed

· Participates as a team member through communication and cooperation with staff

· Participates in staff trainings and programs as required

Donation Collector Duties

· Safely operate vehicle through residential streets and on highways.

· Operate vehicle in compliance with established company standards and state driving regulations.

·Drive truck along scheduled local route picking up food donations

· Ensure the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.

Ensure all donations are delivered to designated warehouse.

· Safely load/unload merchandise from facility/vehicle utilizing hand trucks, pallet jacks or other lifting devices.

Requirements:

· Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

·Must own large vehicle or SUV to pick up and transport donations.

·Read and follow a map or utilize GPS, hand written or verbal directions.

· Maintain telephone contact with supervisor to receive donor request changes.

· Must be able to lift 50 - 100 pounds and push 150 pounds.

· Perform strenuous heavy work, involving lifting and carrying of heavy objects.

· Perform continuous walking, stooping, standing and some climbing.

· Must be able to effectively sort, stack and process incoming donations in a safe an organized manner.

· Must be self-motivated with a high degree of personal integrity and honesty.

· Must have an analytic mind and be able to handle multiple tasks.

· Must be punctual and have good work habits.

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:

· High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required.

License & Certifications:

· Valid LA driver's license.

· Clean Department Of Motor Vehicle Report (No DUI'S, Reckless Driving or Major Moving Violations).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 15 per week

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
