SUMMARY

A Residential Aide supports the treatment of clients who are struggling with addiction issues and may perform a variety of tasks to provide clients with the best possible care. AResidential Aide is expected to understand the treatment program, record patient behavior, and provide a safe, supportive environment for the patients and peers. May provide and record patient medications and assist in daily activities, whether therapeutic or recreational. To be successful in this role, a Residential Aide needs to have strong communication skills and a positive demeanor towards clients and other staff members.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients.
  • Conduct shift change with oncoming staff: high alert medications & verify and post the status of the company card.
  • Consult with medical staff regarding the status of clients and any current medical issues such as limitations, medications, etc.
  • Consult with clinical staff regarding the status of clients and any current clinical issues such as appointments, groups, activities, assignments, etc.
  • Wake up clients for medication administration & groups.
  • Distribute medications (sign off on high alert meds) if nurse is unavailable.
  • Update OTC meds binder as needed.
  • Check and sign off on temperature, disinfectant, & refrigerator logs.
  • Wash and put-up clean laundry.
  • Clean and set up rooms after every discharge.
  • Escort clients to their scheduled groups and/or transport clients to their off-site appointments.
  • Complete round sheets and place in client file.
  • Inventory new medications and notify medical staff of its completion.
  • Supervise telehealth calls & personal calls.
  • Maintain cleanliness within the entire facility.
  • Prepare office for oncoming shift.
  • Monitor clients' conduct throughout the day.
  • Support client treatment goals as identified by the treatment team.
  • Convey clients’ needs to medical, clinical, and other operational staff.
  • Participates in crisis intervention and conflict resolution actions, including suicide assessments, partner abuse, child, and elder abuse screening; responds appropriately to resolve crisis situations; implements mandatory reporting procedures in accordance with regulations (including HIPAA) and policies.
  • Immediately report any crisis or serious concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Utilize incident report to document any incidents when on duty following professional protocol.
  • Maintain proper chain of command.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive work environment while exercising maturity in judgement.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings/in service training.
  • Attends client outings, ensuring safe surroundings while always keeping all clients within eyesight.
  • Maintain a good driving record.
  • Continue to complete SUD certification requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of flexibility with the daily flow of work tasks.
  • Complete all other duties as directed by the Lead Residential Aide, Operations Manager, or EHG leadership.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred; Bachelor’s preferred
  • 2 years’ addiction treatment center experience preferred
  • 2 years’ IOP/PHP experience preferred
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified within 30 days of employment
  • Effective September 1, 2023, a valid Motor Vehicle License
