Job Description

Essential Duties:

1. Assists in maintaining a physical, social and psychological environment in the best interests of residents.

2. Monitors resident within State Licensure regulations; may supervise and direct resident assistants where allowed by State Licensure regulations.

3. Assists in writing service plans based on resident needs.

4. Obtains and administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician. Documents and reviews medication and treatment sheets for accuracy and compliance with physician orders, professional standards, federal and state regulations and company policy.

5. Monitors responses to treatment plans. Possesses knowledge of medication interactions and notifies the Wellness Director or Executive Director of any issues. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures.

6. Counts controlled substances with off going nurse; secures and corrects reconciliation of controlled substances during shift.

7. Ensures cleanliness and organization of medicine supply room and security of discontinued medicine in accordance with federal and state regulations and company policy.

8. Assist with move-out process relevant to medication and treatment orders.

9. Oversees the Resident Assistants and Housekeeping Assistants assigned to their shift.

Additional Duties:

1. Possesses knowledge of OSHA regulations and infection control standards.

2. Follows policies and procedures to ensure resident safety.

Bottom Line: The Resident Care Nurse is responsible for doing anything that assures the clinical needs of our residents are met through the highest standards of delivery and in keeping with “invisible healthcare with dignity”.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Current State licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

• Experience in a position involving coordination or supervision of direct care staff.

• Experience providing nursing care to a senior population required.

• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory agency standards and guidelines.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

• Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations, professional standards and nursing procedures as related to community population.
