is a public service media organization looking for a talented host & journalist to join its award-winning news and programming departments. This part-time position will work across digital and traditional broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of traditional broadcast with proficiency in web, mobile and social media platforms. Knowledge of public broadcasting is a plus.
This position will work closely with the Program Director and News Director to generate and coordinate content for KLCC broadcast and digital portals, including news content, podcasts, data tables, promotional displays and calendar items.

Working Schedule:
  • This is an hourly, as needed, position, working up to 20 hours per week as assigned by the department.
  • Typical hours are 5:00-9:30am, Monday through Sunday, and 2:00-6:30pm, Monday through Friday, assigned as needed.
  • Additional hours may be assigned depending on news and programming coverage needs.
  • KLCC serves communities throughout western and central Oregon and some travel outside Eugene-Springfield may be necessary.

Required QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
High school graduation or equivalent supplemented by related coursework or training.
Required Experience:
One (1) year of experience in journalism, digital content management and/or broadcast.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree preferred with coursework in journalism, digital content management, broadcasting, graphic design, audio and video editing.

Position Purpose:
The News Anchor and Program Host will anchor on-air broadcasts and generate content for KLCC broadcast and digital portals, developing community contacts and monitoring issues of community concern.
Essential Functions:
  • On-Air hosting during NPR News magazine programs. The successful candidate will provide local news and information to the communities KLCC serves.
  • Research and write timely news content for KLCC broadcast and digital portals.
  • Audio board operation in a live setting.
  • Audio production using Cool Edit/Adobe Audition.
  • Operation of OMT digital playback system.
  • Participate in public media fundraising drives though on-air pitching, board operation, and other duties as needed.
  • Participate in local news coverage decision making.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
This position works under the direction of the KLCC News Director and Program Director.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position will work primarily in an office environment. Some moderate lifting and transportation of equipment may be necessary. KLCC covers communities throughout western and central Oregon and occasional travel outside Eugene-Springfield may be assigned. Work safely.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to host live on-air in a news environment in an authoritative, yet conversational manner.
  • Ability to put together newscasts from a variety of sources and deliver them live on-air.
  • Ability to operate a multi-track audio board.
  • Skill in and knowledge of digital audio editing, particularly with Cool Edit and Adobe Audition.
  • Knowldege of writing, reporting and editing content for digital and broadcast.
  • Skill with content management systems and social media software.
  • Knowledge of live streaming and podcasting.
  • Knowledge of the mission and values of public media.
