Applicant Notification:
Our Department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach in the Nursing Assistant 1 program.
The primary responsibility of the Nursing Assistant Instructor is to provide quality teaching in a full range of community college Nursing Assistant courses.
  • Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.
  • This is an application pool posting for 2024. The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College's main campus located in Eugene, Oregon.

Required QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
Have evidence of completion of a course on teaching adults, or one (1) year of experience teaching adults.
Required Experience:
Have at least two (2) years' experience as an RN.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Must maintain current and unencumbered State Of Oregon Registered Nurse License.
Conditions of Employment:

The successful candidate will be required to have the following immunizations:

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience teaching NA and/or CNA2 in the classroom, lab, and clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated experience of Oregon State Board of Nursing standards, accreditation, and self-study.
  • Have at least ten (10) hours of instruction strategies, including both educational theory and technique.

Position Purpose:

This position is expected to provide high quality instruction to nursing assistant and certified nursing assistant level two students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical setting, in accordance with the college and department mission, vision and values.
In addition to facilitation of student learning, this role is responsible for program effectiveness, including: program assessment and review in support of continuous improvement; coordination, supervision, and evaluation of clinical experiences; and student recruitment.
Essential Functions:
  • Ensure students develop requisite entry-level knowledge, skills, and competencies to sit for certification or licensure and/or work in the field.
  • Employ strong classroom management skills, including independent judgment, subject matter expertise, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of teaching theory and methodologies.
  • Advise, assist, and tutor students, and connect them with available resources to support their learning.
  • Effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • As appropriate, coordinate, develop, or oversee Advanced College Credit courses with high school instructors.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students

Supervision Statement:
May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel and may assign work to student workers.
Works under the general direction of the Nursing Assistant Program Director, Dean of Health Professions, Health and Physical Education and the Associate Dean/Director of Nursing.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Nursing Assistant instructors must have the ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and manipulate objects, remain on their feet for extended periods of time, have sufficient strength to lift objects and/or assist students in positioning patients, and possess adequate manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment such as standard laboratory, safety and office equipment.
