Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging activities for our residents. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors in our community.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents
- Plan and organize a variety of recreational activities, including games, crafts, outings, and entertainment
- Coordinate and facilitate group activities to promote social interaction among residents
- Provide individualized attention and support to residents with special needs or limitations
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the activities program
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in senior care and incorporate new ideas into the activities program
Skills:
- Strong background in senior care and understanding of aging issues
- Knowledge of dementia care and experience working with individuals with memory loss
- Familiarity with therapeutic recreation principles and techniques
- Ability to assess resident needs and develop personalized activity plans
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and compassion for seniors
- Proficiency in organizing and leading group activities
- Knowledge of ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and their importance in maintaining independence
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, recreational therapy) preferred but not required
- Previous experience in an assisted living or nursing home setting is highly desirable
- CPR and First Aid certification along (or willingness to obtain)
-valid CNA certificate
- Ability to pass a background check
