Landmark Hospitals is Hiring a Director of Nursing Near Columbia, MO

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Nursing (DON) with Landmark Hospitals. As the DON, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the organization, development, management, and administration of our nursing department's day-to-day activities. Your responsibilities will include supervising RNs, LPNs, and patient care technicians to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. Salary:

  • $90,000 - $100,000 per year

Shift:

  • M-F, daytime, in-office position
  • This role necessitates a high level of flexibility with hours; supporting call-ins and shift change issues as needed.

Management – Coordinates the management related activities for the Nursing department to ensure optimum, achievable nursing care is delivered; leads by example.

  • Reviews 6-week schedules to ensure adequate staffing on all shifts, both units for the provision of safe, quality patient care.
  • Adjusts staff as necessary, by arranging and approving necessary overtime and/or unscheduled shifts, calls in relief staff, and approves excused absences when overstaffing exists.
  • Makes daily patient rounds and ensures participation of staff in team meetings and family conferences
  • Assesses problem situations, and after thorough investigation plans and implements corrective action.
  • Initiates and/or maintains hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in medical staffing, team meetings, team conferences when appropriate.
  • Utilizes effective counseling procedures with employees that may also include termination of employees. Engages Human Resources when appropriate.
  • Identifies recruiting needs and participates in interviews; Provides input to HR regarding interview status and offers.
  • Ensures time reporting and payroll inputs are accurate and timely.
  • Assists the Safety Officer and Administration in coordinating and facilitating all hospital activities in the event of a disaster, in accordance with the hospital’s Disaster Manual.
  • Supports regulatory compliance in the Nursing unit
  • As necessary, acts as a representative of the patient in coordination of resources of ancillary hospital department functions, i.e., Social Services, Patient Relations, Radiology, and Security.

Communication

  • Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Reports all unusual occurrences and problems through proper channels, and facts of a thorough investigation are provided in a written report to the Nurse Executive. Incident reports are completed and submitted as required.
  • Provides accurate shift change reports to the Charge Nurse.
  • Provides condition reports of critically ill patients to families and friends in a caring, compassionate manner.
  • Communicates and collaborates with Chief Executive Officer on call as appropriate for solution of any specific and/or unusual situations

Staff Development – Coordinates activities that promote staff development and competency growth

  • Promotes an environment in which Nursing Services personnel can work cooperatively and achieve potential for growth and improvement
  • Recognizes needs and provides opportunities for staff development, recognizing staff potential for growth resulting in improved performance.
  • Performs complete evaluation of evening and night shift employees based on hospital policy.
  • Ensures appropriate orientation of new employees is completed in a timely manner
  • Promotes an atmosphere of acceptance and support to encourage new ideas and implementation.

Professionalism – Hold self and others to the highest level of professional standards, displaying and encouraging an atmosphere of caring and accountability

  • Demonstrates commitment to work responsibilities and assumes accountability on a continuous basis.
  • Presents self in a conscientious and concerned manner.
  • Adheres to hospital/nursing service dress code policies when on duty or involved in work responsibilities.
  • Maintains clinical knowledge and skills including CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Preserves confidentiality of both patients and employees.
  • Acts as a resource person for all nursing staff members.

Direct Patient Care

  • Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the patients served as needed.
  • Plans and assists in implementation of patient/family teaching as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 year Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in a ICU/Critical Care environment (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years management / supervisory experience (Required)
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri (Required)
  • BLS and ACLS certification (Required)
