Responsibilities:

• Follows directions from the Crew Leader.
• Performs landscape maintenance functions (e.g., pulling weeds, raking leaves, sweeping sidewalks, and cleaning debris); clears ditches, digs holes, and performs handwork as necessary using a pick, shovel, or other hand tools. Performs general clean up at the work site.
• Operates light landscape equipment (e.g., 21” mower, leaf blower, weed eater, stick edger, and hedge trimmer)
• Operates demanding landscape equipment (e.g., rototiller, stump grinder, sod cutter, etc.)
• Able to identify 50 common plants.
• Able to prune common landscape shrubs and low trees.
• Sod and seed installation turf and bioswales areas.
• Mentoring and training of Gardner 1 and 2.
• Able to grade an area to create good drainage.
• Able to perform irrigation repairs on existing irrigation.
• Ensures work is performed to the company's and customer's expectations
• Recognizes areas for improvement in the landscape and communicates this to the Crew Leader
• Maintains tools and equipment to ensure safety and attends safety meetings
• Applies chemicals (e.g., fertilizer, Round Up,) to landscape and uses chemical application equipment (e.g., spray tank, belly grinder).
• Provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, co-workers, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing landscaping or related services.
• English fluency is a plus.
• Valid California drivers license is a plus.

Work Environment

This job operates 100% of the time in a field environment. This role routinely uses landscape specific equipment such as company vehicles, hand tools, construction equipment, chemicals, and phones.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands or finger to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
