The team plays a significant role in fueling revenue growth and profitability through new product introduction, process improvement, sustainability, cost savings and innovation. By partnering closely cross functionally, the team delivers value to Land O’Lakes business units, members and customers. Land O’Lakes is seeking a Packaging Engineer to provide technical leadership and knowledge for our businesses. The Packaging Engineer will be a part of a fully integrated cross-functional team, working closely with Product R&D, Sourcing, Quality, Engineering, Marketing and Operations. The team is responsible for identifying top opportunities for cost savings, sustainability, and innovation, and advancing those ideas. The role is very focused on successfully delivering against key development projects, generating a pipeline of new ideas, and supporting key system needs at our production facilities while maintaining high quality standards for our materials. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Act as a key packaging resource for one or more business platforms. Builds strong relationships with key functional partners to support new product launches and other key initiatives. Proactively leads collaboration with cross-functional partners to achieve sustainability goals, technical innovations, and cost savings. Manages lab testing, plant trials, and analyses results to validate and advance technical packaging opportunities. Effectively partners with suppliers to implement innovated packaging solutions. Provides effective communication and documentation of work including technical testing plans, plant trial and lab reports, specifications, and team updates. Applies engineering principles and statistics to solve problems and make data-based decisions. Builds and leverages depth of technical material knowledge to drive innovation and margin improvements. Utilizes packaging knowledge to develop and maintain packaging specifications and gather supplier data. Competencies-Skills (Required): Knowledge (preferred working knowledge) of packaging materials, packaging testing and sustainability considerations, and how a packaging solution evolves from an idea to the consumer’s hands Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and ability to achieve accelerated timelines and influence team members while maintaining cooperative working relationships Sense of urgency; proactive and result oriented, positive, passionate, and curious Influence and interface with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment to deliver results Analytical and problem-solving skills Manage multiple rapidly changing priorities, strong planning, and organizational skills Microsoft Office applications and TOPS Experience – Education Packaging Engineering or other Engineering degree required 0-3 years of experience Prior internship experience is highly desired.
