JOB SUMMARY
This position requires supervisory work which involves supervising a clerical unit consisting of seven (7) staff. These employees engage in clerical processing, typing, filing, or other related clerical activities.
Duties include coordinating the unit's work with other clerical and non-clerical office units; making independent operating decisions concerning the appropriate disposition of work based upon experience and knowledge of office and departmental operations; and resolving personnel related issues involving members of the unit.
This position is responsible for all the business functions related to the BHDS office currently located at Eden Road. Technical and policy problems are discussed with administrative and management officials and changes in operating procedures are subject to review and approval.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts all training of new staff on the job functions of their position and retrains existing staff when needed.
Plans and assigns work to clerical staff after determining who is available and capable of performing the work.
Performs audits to ensure work standards are being met.
Assesses and writes annual evaluations for staff based on work performance and observations.
Performs the interviewing and hiring process for all potential candidates for vacant clerical positions.
Arranges and provides coverage of essential job duties assigned to employees under this position's supervision in times of lengthy absences or position vacancies.
Coordinate meetings, trainings, conferences, and public events. Prepares agendas, minutes and monitors the registration process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of moderately complex clerical work experience; or any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
