LAMONS is Hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer - Summer Intern Near Houston, TX

Job Summary

Lamons is seeking college students for a paid summer work/internship position. the 12-week program is designed to provide the intern with a basic knowledge and understanding of the various departments and services that Lamons provides both internally and externally. If you are a motivated individual who is driven and willing to learn, we want you to participate in the candidate pool of interns!
This position prefers a student with a strong interest in project ownership, driving solutions, and learning from mistakes. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with eagerness and determination. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform basic product and/or manufacturing designs.
  • Develop basic detail and assembly drawings for products, processes, and equipment.
  • Perform engineering change process as necessary to support existing products and processes.
  • Updates work instructions in ERP system
  • Test prototypes and standard products and write reports to document the results.
  • Categorize a wide arrangement of existing parts, tooling, and work holding.
  • Comply with all Lamons company and EH&S policies and procedures.
  • Maintains equipment & work area in a clean & orderly condition.
  • Carries out job requirements in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
  • Responsible for and the authority to maintain and promote a safe working environment in accordance with the appropriate EH&S procedure(s).
  • Participates in actions which promote a safety and quality culture within Lamons.
  • Complies with all Lamons Company and Quality, Health Safety Environmental polices & procedures
  • Ensures compliance of the company’s overall objectives.

Job Specifications

Skills

  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental engineering concepts and relationships.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend a tape measurer, caliper, and micrometer.
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
  • Ability to work well within a multi-disciplined team.

Education

  • Attending a two-year or four-year college for Design, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering major, required.
  • Good working knowledge of 3D CAD, Solidworks, Fusion 360, and/or Inventor preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Experience

  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.

Compensation

  • Compensation for the summer internship is $25/hour.
