Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Utilizing leadership by example, the stewardship coordinator is responsible for the effective execution of donor stewardship at Lamar University. The coordinator provides guidance and direction to a team of seasoned professionals responsible for successful donor stewardship programming and guide stewardship priorities.
The coordinator will work with University Advancement professional staff to coordinate communications and contacts with external constituents related to LU stewardship activities and streamline LU executive and critical external constituents to maximize the impact of stewardship activities. The coordinator will work in collaboration with Academic leadership across the campus to engage leaders in stewardship activities.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Creating and distributing comprehensive detailed planning reports with specific action lists for each stewardship activity; diligently complete time-sensitive actions and maintain timely and transparent communication with University Advancement professional staff.
  • Balance and prioritize fast paced multi-tasking challenges, i.e., those related to planned communications with donors, internal team members, colleague consultations, and problem solving/trouble shootings.
  • Demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and a strong ability to positively interact with communities at large and internal campus communities.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with conflicting priorities.
  • Apply expertise to stewardship activities for the entire campus and develop an ongoing professional training schedule to identify and implement industry best practices.
  • Advocate for communities of individuals with various backgrounds.
  • Manage relationships with external constituents.
Key Competencies:
  • Knowledge of Texas State University System, its component institutions, and their inter-connected goals. Knowledge of marketing strategies, and social protocols related donor relations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in the fund-raising, marketing, or donor stewardship is required.
  • Experience working with community and business leaders in business and social settings.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interact positively and professionally with both the community at large and the internal campus community.
