Position Title: Principal/Head of School

Location: Cornelius, North Carolina

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Principal/Head of School to lead our charter school located in Cornelius, North Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and support to ensure the academic success, operational efficiency, and overall growth of the school community. This position requires a passionate educator with strong leadership skills, a commitment to student achievement, and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Educational Leadership:
• Develop and implement a strategic vision for academic excellence and student success aligned with the school's mission and values.
• Lead the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and achievement.
• Provide instructional leadership by supporting and evaluating teachers, monitoring student progress, and implementing data-driven instructional strategies.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting professional development opportunities for staff and utilizing best practices in education.
• Operational Management:
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the school, including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and facilities management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing charter schools.
• Collaborate with the board of directors, staff, and community stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures that support the school's mission and goals.
• Manage resources efficiently to optimize student learning outcomes and maintain financial stability.
• Community Engagement:
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community members to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the school, representing its interests to external stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and the media.
• Develop partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and institutions to enhance educational opportunities and support the school's mission.
• Student Support and Discipline:
• Implement a comprehensive system for student support services, including counseling, special education, and behavioral interventions.
• Establish and enforce a code of conduct that promotes a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address the individual needs of students and promote their social-emotional development.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field (doctorate preferred).
• North Carolina principal licensure or eligibility for licensure required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in K-12 education, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role in a charter school.
• Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and leading school improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of charter school governance, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate others, build consensus, and lead change initiatives.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English preferred)
• Located or willing to locate to the Cornelius/Huntersville/Davidson Community
• Willing to commit to 5 years or more to ensure consistency
