Position Title and Summary

The Cash Applications Specialist supports the Accounting Team in accurate and timely cash applications inclusive of checks, EFT, credit cards and Lock box payments.

Reports To

Cash Applications and Collections Manager

Responsibilities

Daily review of Lock Box exceptions to correct to ensure checks are ready for that day’s import (high volume transactions).
Daily accurate posting of all incoming checks ensuring that each entered batch is balanced.
Daily import of Lock Box payments into each database ensuring that the deposit balances to the totality of the multiple imports.
Trouble shooting payment issues via reaching out to customers and/or collections staff.
Daily maintenance of check deposit log to assist Accounting in monthly bank reconciliation.
Responsible for returned check payment reversals and other escalated payment issues.
Back-up with credit card refunds, payment transfers and other Accounts Receivable tasks (ie, vendor forms, one use credit care payments, inquiries from customers)

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

Experience in cash applications.
Strong attention to details and possesses general math skills
Possesses strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrates effective communication skills, both orally and written
Is detail oriented with the ability to meet schedules and deadlines
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required

Works under moderate supervision
