Registration Specialist (On-Site)

Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute is seeking a Registration Specialist who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the reception area including greeting patients and visitors, registration, check-in and checkout, answering questions, and providing direction as appropriate. As the Registration Specialist you are an integral part of the team and can make a difference in the lives of patients.

  • Strong experience in customer OR patient service. (Healthcare experience NOT required)
  • Ability to work in a patient-oriented team environment. 
  • Ability to greet patients with a warm, energetic, and friendly disposition, and has an efficient work ethic

Key Responsibilities

  • Print and review the provider’s schedule daily
  • Maintain general tidiness of the waiting areas
  • Verify patient insurance and demographics at each appointment
  • Scan insurance cards and valid photo ID into the EMR
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for patients
  • Collect co-pays, surgery deposits and account balances from patients when applicable
  • Coordinate patient care regarding pre-operative and post-operative needs, i.e. crutch training, braces, and DME application
  • Scan checks into LBJI banking system
  • Scan End of Day paperwork; DME/ABN paperwork; Registration Payment Worksheets into appropriate e-folders or deliver paperwork to the appropriate area of the building
