Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute is Hiring an Imaging Assistant Near Chesterton, IN

The X-Ray Assistant is responsible for assisting patients, to and from X-ray Department and helping X-ray Technicians with ancillary duties.
Position may support other locations in Porter County.
Essential Functions
  • Monitor daily schedule and assist patients in preparations for X-rays.
  • Properly identify patients waiting in lobby according to compliance standards.
  • Assist with lifting and/or transferring patient to X-ray table as needed.
  • Assist patient(s) to lobby or exam room.
  • Assist patients from exam room and verify what exam is to be performed.
  • Import CDs from outside facilities into Joints Software System.
  • Burn CDs for patients and put a phone call note in patients chart stating what is on CD, charge and what office CD is at for pick up.
  • Answer department phones and assist with request as needed.
  • Stock X-ray rooms with supplies.
  • Ensure boxes/supplies that are delivered are logged in Motion MD and then put away daily.
  • Assist with MRI as needed.
  • Assist patients to vehicles as needed.
Education: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Preferred Experience: Minimum of 1-year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. Experience or interest in health care.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the job.
Environmental/Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients and with testing sites and surgery departments. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves dealing with injured sick people.
