Job Summary

Responsible for planning and managing the operations of hospital housekeeping duties as well as adding support to laundry and linen evening operations.Works with department leadership to review standards of work,

procedures, inspects and evaluates physical condition of the hospital and helps develop and administer department policies, procedures and budgets in order to meet department and hospital goals and objectives.Provides leadership to

supervisors within areas of responsibility to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and codes.Ensures customer needs are met and maintains positive relationship with internal customers.Participates in the quality

improvements process through team participation, team leadership and data gathering and monitoring.Utilizes moderate to advanced computer skills with data bases, spread sheets and word processing.

  • Demonstrates capacity to manage change and break down barriers to effectively improve and transform the EVS department
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental laws and reducing pollution
  • Implementing various strategies to reduce the daily discharge turn times
  • Demonstrating leadership by providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service and values

Competencies

1.Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Five to seven years healthcare environmental environment
  • Office Suites: Microsoft, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of the hospital cleaning procedure, project work and specialty cleaning

Preferred:

  • Environmental management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with staff and patients
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with various hospital personnel in providing service and in order to lead and manage department personnel

2.Education

Essential: High School or Equivalent

Preferred: Bachelor

3.Experience

Essential:

  • Five to ten years in healthcare supervision
  • Five to ten years with Customer Service Skills

Manager

  • Demonstrates accountability for overall departmental operations and/or organization-wide functional responsibilities within the system to support achievement of organizational priorities.
  • Coaches team leaders, direct reports and team members to create a productive work environment.
  • Creates a high performing team by building strong relationships, mobilizing others to action and effectively leveraging the talent of their team.
  • Manages and supports conflict/issues resolution implementing appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans and regular performance evaluations.
  • Demonstrates capacity to manage change resistance and break down barriers to effective improvement and transformation.
  • Serves as a mentor for a healthy and safe culture to advance system, department and service experience.
