Position Summary
Summary:
Oversee comprehensive LRHS safety and security plans for LRHMC (Medical Center Campus), all system-wide ambulatory and office site locations and properties to ensure the protection of staff, patients, visitors and property. Directs security operations of LRHS in accordance with LRHS Safety & Security Services operating policies & procedures, and federal, state, local and hospital regulatory requirements. Oversees Disaster and Emergency Preparedness program to include leadership and staff training in emergency preparedness, preparing and maintaining the Emergency Operations Plan and compliance with Joint Commission Emergency Management Standards. Acts as principle liaison to outside agencies in safety, security, emergency preparedness and Homeland Security matters. Develops and oversees an effective parking management system that ensures quality customer service to LRHS guests, patients, staff, and visitors. Oversees LRHS Safety and Security Committee, the Emergency Preparedness Committee and is a member of the Environment of Care Committee.

  • Standard Work Duties: Director - Safety/Security
  • Develops, implements, and administers a comprehensive facility safety and security plan to ensure the protection of staff, patients, visitors and property, through the direction of Security staff and training of employees in safety and security matters.
  • Plans, coordinates, administers and continuously evaluates for compliance the security operations in accordance with LRHS and Safety & Security Services operating policies & procedures, and federal, state, local and hospital regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and maintains emergency management and business continuity plans for LRHS. Identifies emergency management training needs, conducts vulnerability assessments and develops and implements comprehensive emergency management training programs; organizes and implements emergency planning and preparedness. During an emergency or disaster serves as a key member of the emergency response team
  • Researches laws, regulations, and guidelines regarding the implementation of security programs, and ensures compliance with such regulations. Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures and information for Safety and Security, Emergency Management and Preparedness functions.
  • Develops an effective parking management system for LRHS that ensures quality customer service to LRHS guests, patients, staff, and visitors. Plans, manages, oversees, and develops policies for parking services. Maintains efficient and effective operations in administration of parking permits to staff, and students; petitions and appeals of parking violations; supervises the parking enforcement; and manages of parking facilities
  • Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, and the compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Provides knowledge and experience of parking system management, including strategic and long term planning of parking operations.
  • Responsible for collaborating with Strategic Informatics on planning for budget and then responsible for meeting the budget at the end of the fiscal year. Responsible for being fiscally savvy in managing the budget through the fiscal year
  • Develops and maintains emergency management and business continuity plans for LRHS. Identifies emergency management training needs, conducts vulnerability assessments and develops and implements comprehensive emergency management training programs; organizes and implements emergency planning and preparedness.Direct supervisor of Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. Principle liaison (along with Emergency Preparedness Coordinator) to collaborate with local/state/federal authorities in case of a disaster/emergency situation
  • Develops an effective physical security technology system that ensures quality safety and security control, utilizing but not limited to access control, video-surveillance, staff duress, infant and pediatric protection, and other technologies as identified, to safeguard guests, patients, staff, and visitors. Plans, manages, oversees, and develops policies and procedures for security technology. Maintains efficient and effective oversight in administration of security technology operations, maintenance and projects to safeguard LRHS.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, oversight and recommendations on new design, construction and remodels pertaining to security technology, implementation of projects, coordinates with security integrators and manages completion of projects pertaining to security and safety.

  • Bachelor Degree

  • Criminal Justice, healthcare, or related field.

Other information:
Experience Essential:
Minimum seven years of full time, paid work experience in law enforcement, healthcare security or military security with at least two-three years of supervisory experience.
Experience Preferred:
Minimum of ten years of healthcare safety and security experience with management and/or supervisory experience.
Certifications Essential:
IAHHS Basic Certification within one year of position; Advanced IAHSS certification within two years; within four years, IAHSS Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator.
Certifications Preferred:
Certified Healthcare Protection Administrators (CHPA), Certified Healthcare Protection Professional (CPP), Advanced IAHSS certification
Licenses Essential:
Florida Class D Security License
State of Florida active motor vehicle license.
