We are a family medical practice in downtown Oak Park. We are seeking to hire a medical assistant who will be responsible for assisting our ten providers. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, obtaining patient records and test results and assisting our practitioners during medical procedures.

To be effective in this role, you will need to be certified from a medical assistant program or have equivalent experience. Must have at least one to two years of prior experience in a medical setting. A basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology will be a huge advantage for you.

Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:

• Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
• Saves doctors’ time by helping with office procedures.
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
• Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited program or school prefered
• Experience with EMR and medical terminology
• Previous experience in family medicine field preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
