- Competent classroom management skills
- Ensure student academic success is foremost in all instructional decisions.
- Plans state standards-based instruction (short and long range).
- Responsible for providing classroom instruction that meets the needs of all students.
- Plans a program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, projects, and student experiments; organizes hands-on activities for optimal learning and integrates computer technology in the teaching process.
- Provides individual or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils and to accommodate circumstances where a variety of student groups (projects, enrichment, skills-based activities) are being worked on simultaneously.
- Evaluates each student’s growth in knowledge and skills and is responsible for issuing grades and/or progress reports.
- Establishing a classroom decorum and maintains a standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive learning environment.
- Supervision of pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Communicates with parents and school officials on student progress.
- Shares in the sponsorship of student activities such as grade level and/or department teams and participates in faculty committees.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Serves as an effective and positive role model for students.
