    JOB DESCRIPTION: McKinney-Vento Family and Student Liaison Assistant
    REPORTS TO: District McKinney-Vento Liaison
    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    High School Diploma. Associates Degree or work related experience. Hold and maintain valid driver's license with no violations; Experience with students and families, community service, and/or outreach programs preferred. Experience with working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations preferred.
    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/SUMMARY:
    Responsible for assisting with providing academic, social emotional, and college career-readiness supports for all students who qualify as homeless under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act by serving as a liaison between families, schools, and the community at school sites. Facilitate positive family-school relationships in collaboration with student support teams by implementing comprehensive parent and student engagement programs and services. Services for students are flexible and varied based on need and include community working with the District McKinney-Vento Liaison and school student support teams to support students and families with issues such as attendance and transportation, supplemental academic supports, physical and mental well-being assistance, and employment, housing, and utility assistance. Works to remove all unique barriers for students experiencing homelessness with emphasis on enrollment, attendance, and school success.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Support McKinney-Vento supports at school sites by collaborating with families, students, and school staff to ensure student success by removing barriers and ensuring educational rights.
    2. Work to build a team at each school and help the school team provide a welcoming and supportive environment for students and families,
    3. Work closely with each school’s Student Support Team and District Truancy Officer to engage parents and create Family, School, Community, Partnerships.
    4. Serve as a liaison between student, support groups, parents, and others to assist in resolving student problems.
    5. Work with school teams, students, and families on academic, social-emotional, and/or college and career challenges and provide school resources to ensure individual student progress.
    6. Connect families and students to teachers, counselors, administration, and other school staff as needed.
    7. Develop and maintain relationships between students, families, school, and outside agencies. This includes working closely with the District McKinney-Vento Liaison and school staff responsible McKinney-Vento programming and supports.
    8. Assist with the facilitation with school teams of ongoing staff development training to define and review the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and how it applies to their site.
    9. Assist with monitoring data to identify and support students and families for McKinney-Vento.
    10. Assist with completing paperwork and reconciliation documents related to McKinney Vento in timely manner.
    11. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community
    12. Perform all other duties as assigned.

    1. Oral and written communication skills.

    4. Ability to conduct home visits as required.
    5. Knowledge of community resources and partners.
    6. Operating knowledge of Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
    7. Operating knowledge of/ability to operate Student Information/Learning Management Systems.
    8. Operating knowledge of typical office equipment.
