Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in special education
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Full approval/ endorsement in at least one area of Special Education
- At least three years of successful teaching experience in Special Education (Resource experience preferred)
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong assessment background, including test selection, administration and interpretation relative to special education eligibility
- Demonstrated effective consultation skills, including familiarity with RtI and MTSS models and a wealth of evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies to address the needs of students with varying disabilities
- Evidence of outstanding organizational and leadership skills, including solid understanding and meticulous observance of district procedures, state requirements and federal regulations; demonstrated ability to prioritize a timeline-driven workload, history of timely and accurate completion or reports and special education paperwork; ability to lead teams to consensus, and productive and positive relationships with parents, coworkers, administration and community partners
- The ability to provide leadership/ mentoring to peers related to the requirements of IDEA and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
- Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership in roles outside the classroom
- Completion of CPI training (Required)
- Completion of IEP Coach Training or equivalent (IEP Boot Camp)- Required
- High level of proficiency in the completion of Functional Behavioral Assessments and development of Positive Behavior Support Plans
