Lake Norman Charter Elementary School is seeking qualified candidates for an Exceptional Children Teacher with NCDPI licensure in Special Education: Adapted Curriculum for the 2024-2025 school year.

ES EC Teacher 

(Adapted Curriculum)

PURPOSE: Lake Norman Charter School provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness, leadership, and social responsibility.

The Adapted Curriculum provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. It enables students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Serves as the case manager for an assigned group of students, organizing and maintaining the EC folder, coordinating all IEP meetings and facilitating progress monitoring and reporting on all IEP goals;
  • Completes all required IEP documentation as required by NC Policies Governing Services to Students with Disabilities within applicable timelines and compliance standards;
  • Maintains student records in accordance with North Carolina’s Procedures Governing Program and Services for Children with Disabilities; and complies with State and Federal education statutes;
  • Develops and implements the IEP in classroom settings that are compatible with the student’s age and developmental level;
  • Gathers and records data on student progress toward academic and behavioral goals on the IEP on a timely basis;
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
  • Works cooperatively with special education teachers and others to modify curricula as needed for identified students;
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods;
  • Maintains good order and discipline amongst students under one’s care and safeguards their health and safety at all times;
  • Consistently and appropriately supervises students in all areas of the campus;
  • Monitors the attendance of students under one’s care;
  • Communicates (verbal and written) professionally and effectively with all stakeholders;
  • Adopts and works towards the implementation of the school strategic development plan;
  • Ensures high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of the subject/s. Through effective dialogue, participates in reciprocal peer review and observation of class teaching practice by the building principal (subject/level) concerned;
  • Actively participates in professional development and training courses as well as in continuing professional development (PD) opportunities, and takes part in action research exercises;
  • Shares in any possible and reasonable way in the effective management, organization, order and discipline of the school;
  • Other duties assigned by the building principal or other administrative staff.

SUGGESTED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • NCDPI Educator License in Special Education: Adapted Curriculum
  • Preference for Previous Teaching Experience
